The Scout Troop
The Scout Troop is for Boys aged 10½ - 15½. The Troop has between 20-30 Boys and offers a wide variety of activities, particularly the traditional Scout craft skills and camping. The Troop runs a weekend Whit Camp in May and also a week long Summer Camp in July/August which gives the boys an opportunity to explore these skills further.
The Troop is split into Patrols of 6-8 scouts. Each Patrol has an older scout who is the Patrol Leader. The Patrols compete against each other and learn to work as a team. The Patrols are named after animals Bulldogs , Kestrels, and Panthers. As part of an ongoing project, the Scouts have managed to build two go-carts using old bicycles, garden chairs, planks of wood and anything else that came to hand. After months of development and welding, they were tested at a local park.

In February 2002, The Troop organised a sponsored 'Sleep Out' in aid of the National Children's Home and the Thailand Jamboree. The Scouts slept in cardboard boxes outside the church to try to experience being homeless for a night. They all built their own shelters from boxes they had supplied and we cooked hotdogs for supper. McDonnalds provided a hot Breakfast in the morning. The evening raised £400 and was also featured in the Maidenhead Advertiser.
