The
Investiture Ceremony
When a
Beaver Scout or new member is ready to join the Cup Pack, they are invested into
the Pack. The investiture ceremony lasts about 10 minutes and parents are
more than welcome to attend and take pictures. The
Beaver is brought forward by his Sixer, the Oldest Cub in his or her six, who
has looked after the Beaver for the last 6 weeks. They will be wearing the
green jumper of a cub scout, without any badges and without a neckerchief.
What happens next is described below.
I
Promise, that I will do my Best To
do my duty, to
God and the Queen, To
help other people, And
to keep the Cub Scout Law. Promise and Law, Salute and Sign
pictures.
Akela:
Are
you ready to join the Pack and become a Cub Scout.
Beaver:
Yes.
The Pack Flag and the Union Flag are
lowered and held horizontal between Akela and the Beaver, the Colours
wrapped around each other. The Pack is called to the Alert.
Akela:
Place your left hand on the
flags. Would all invested members make the Scout sign.
The Beaver now repeats the Cub Scout
Promise after Akela.
Akela/
Beaver:
The Colours are raised and the Pack
is instructed to Stand at Ease.
The Beaver is now a Cub Scout and a
member of the Pack. He or She is presented with the Group
Neckerchief and his or her six woggle. They also receive their
membership award, county and district badges and group nametape.
13th Maidenhead wears a badge on the back of their neckerchief's
indicating their affiliation to the Methodist Church. The Awards
page has a link to where all the badges need to be on the uniform.
The new Cub Scout then turns around
and the Pack is brought back to the Alert.
The Pack salutes the new member and
he or she salutes back before returning to his or her six.
