The Investiture Ceremony

When a Beaver Scout or new member is ready to join the Cup Pack, they are invested into the Pack.  The investiture ceremony lasts about 10 minutes and parents are more than welcome to attend and take pictures.

The Beaver is brought forward by his Sixer, the Oldest Cub in his or her six, who has looked after the Beaver for the last 6 weeks.  They will be wearing the green jumper of a cub scout, without any badges and without a neckerchief.  What happens next is described below.

Akela: Are you ready to join the Pack and become a Cub Scout.
Beaver:  Yes.
The Pack Flag and the Union Flag are lowered and held horizontal between Akela and the Beaver, the Colours wrapped around each other. The Pack is called to the Alert.
Akela:  Place your left hand on the flags.  Would all invested members make the Scout sign.
The Beaver now repeats the Cub Scout Promise after Akela.
Akela/ Beaver:

I Promise, that I will do my Best

To do my duty, to God and the Queen,

To help other people,

And to keep the Cub Scout Law.

The Colours are raised and the Pack is instructed to Stand at Ease.
The Beaver is now a Cub Scout and a member of the Pack.  He or She is presented with the Group Neckerchief and his or her six woggle.  They also receive their membership award, county and district badges and group nametape.  13th Maidenhead wears a badge on the back of their neckerchief's indicating their affiliation to the Methodist Church.  The Awards page has a link to where all the badges need to be on the uniform.
The new Cub Scout then turns around and the Pack is brought back to the Alert.
The Pack salutes the new member and he or she salutes back before returning to his or her six.

Promise and Law, Salute and Sign pictures.
