They receive their membership award when they are invested into the pack and take their promise and law. The investiture ceremony is explained in more detail here.
For every year that a child is in the Scout Movement they receive a Joining In Award. Cubs that swim up from Beavers generally receive their 3rd and 4th Joining in Award whilst at Cubs.
When a Beaver swims up to the Cub Pack, they receive the Moving On Award showing they were a Beaver before being a Cub Scout.
Cubs Scouts work towards two different types of badges; Challenge Badges and Activity Badges. Challenge Badges are aimed at developing the Cubs personal interests and skills and focus on the areas involved with providing a Balanced Programme of activities. There are two types of Activity Badges, Staged Activity Badges and Activity Badges. They are completely optional to Cubs and are designed to develop skills further. The 6 Staged Activity Badges can be awarded across all the sections so a Cub can continue to improve on their skills as they move on into Scouts. For more information on all of the badges and what you need to do to get yours, click the name of the badge or go to the Badge Directory here.
